InformationnextMoyan Sun, who was born in 1998 in Suzhou, China, now lives in New York. Her practice interrogates the spaces between the known and unknown, blending chaos and precision to reveal subtle nuances of existence. By abstracting and merging organic forms with geometric patterns, her practice endeavors to reach a state of transcendence that exceeds conventional thought and perception. This journey embodies her hope of prompting a reconsideration of established perceptions and dependencies, aiming to extend beyond familiar boundaries and rigid frameworks. It seeks to cultivate a redefinition of our collective understanding and to enrich our interconnectedness with all things. Inspired by a pantheistic view, she sees divinity in the entirety of the universe, mirrored in the materials she uses and the subjects she explores. Utilizing natural materials like paper, wood, and canvas, she delves into the tactile interplay of textures and forms across different dimensions, guided by both spontaneous creation and methodical research. She is fascinated by the properties of mediums such as graphite, ink, rare pigments, and acrylic, as well as the serendipitous allure of found objects. Her process is a dynamic exploration of visual language, where inspirations from literature and nature transform into symbolic representations.
